From Aug. 4 – 7, 2011 chuckwagon drivers gathered in Bonnyville, Alberta to put their driving to the test at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship. One of these drivers was the World Financial Group-sponsored Buddy Bensmiller, and WFG Sports has an update on the exciting event and the results for Buddy.

Day one had Buddy driving against the chuckwagons of Hugh Sinclair, Barry Hodgson and Mitch Sutherland in Heat 3. Buddy crossed the finish line behind Hugh for a second place finish with a time of 1:17.32, earning him a total of 21 points. At the end of the day, Buddy would be in 16^th place out of the 36 driver spots.

On the second day of racing at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship, Buddy once again raced the WFG-tarped chuckwagon in the third heat against his rivals of Sinclair, Hodgson and Sutherland. Although Buddy once again came in second, a penalty against Mitch Sutherland for Wagon Interference cost him 2 penalty points, putting Buddy’s time of 1:17.72 on top and earning him 17 points.

Due to heavy rains in the Bonnyville area, the last two days of the championship were, unfortunately for race fans, cancelled. This cancellation meant that the winner of the Bonnyville event, based on the aggregate score of the two days of racing, was Grant Profit. Buddy ended in 16^th place overall for the championship and is 27^th in the 2011 World Standings.
