The 2012 World Financial Group Continental Cup at the Langley Events Center in Langley, British Columbia officially launched Wednesday evening with FAN Appreciation night. Fans had the opportunity to get face time with all the athletes in the competition and party to sounds of March Hare, a Vancouver, BC-based show band that plays rock, country and new music hits. But the action begins Thursday, Jan. 12 with four days of international curling competition.

This year’s World Financial Group Continental Cup features six teams representing North America competing against six teams from the rest of the world. Curling all-stars – like Canada’s Jeff Stoughton of Winnipeg, the United States’ Pete Fenson of Bemidji, Minnesota, China’s Bingyu Wang of Harbin and Scotland’s Eve Muirhead of Dunkeld – will clash in Team Games, Mixed Doubles, Singles, Mixed Skins and Skins. Team North America, which holds a 4-3 edge over Team World since the inaugural Continental Cup was contested in 2002 in Regina, will be defending its dominance in these matchups.

As the title sponsor of this world-class event for the second year straight and into 2013, WFG is proud to partner with the Canadian Curling Association (CCA) to actively support a family-friendly sport that is growing in popularity across the globe.
